The Singer 15 is THE classic sewing machine. This is a sub-model 88, characterized by an external motor (removed on this machine), large spoked handwheel, and an "11:00" bobbin case.

This particular machine is quiet and smooth, likely the result of being used regularly. The worn decals and paint on the edge of the bed attest to yards and yards of fabric passing across it over the years.

Note the penny on the bed in the photo above. It's a 1937 wheat-ear penny, which I found inside the casting behind the faceplate. According to the serial number (AE344449), this machine was commissioned December 29, 1936. Was this penny put there new, as the machine left the factory? Or was it a good-luck penny placed there by the new owner? Or a simple coincidence?

This machine has the fancy scrollwork faceplate...

... and a scrollwork inspection plate on back, too.

The large, heavy handwheel gives it good momentum for treadling.
The lamp and motor were removed for treadling this machine, but they can be shipped with the head if desired. If you're interested in purchasing, please contact McKenna.
