"Succes" Dutch Handcrank

I only know that this machine is Dutch by provenance. I bought it from a nice couple, it was his mother's and they brought it to the U.S. from Holland years ago.

And that is really all they could tell me about it. Neither of them ever used it. And thus didn't notice (as I didn't when I bought it) that the bobbin winder is completely missing, broken off.

SuccesPillar

Even so, it's a pretty machine. A 3/4-size VS (vibrating shuttle) type. There is a shuttle and bobbin in it, as well as some extra feet in the accessory compartment. And a bentwood dome top, in beautiful condition.

SuccesBack

As one would expect, it is very German in its characteristics. Solid, heavy, chunky in its proportions. Very well made.

SuccesBackPillar

The decals on the front of the bed are worn, indicating that this machine was well used... but the one on the back pillar is pristine. Very unusual, almost Nordic to my eye.

This machine cleaned up very nicely, except that the metal stitch-length mechanism broke off, apparently the metal (as with the bobbin-winder) was weak. Stitch length can be adjusted with pliers and a strong grip... the machine is currently set for a normal stitch length and makes a beautiful stitch.
